Smith Creek Trail Community Planting Day

Come get your hands dirty planting along the Smith Creek Trail in Craigmore Park!

Working together with the City of Playford, Kaurna People, Green Adelaide, and the Playford Greening and Landcare group, we will be planting a section of Smith Creek in Craigmore Park with local native trees and plants to improve biodiversity, create habitat for wildlife and provide shade. Plantings around older trees will attract birds and keep the surrounding trees healthy.

This partnership is supporting Council’s long-term strategy in delivering habitat restoration and reconnecting people with nature.

The event is also part of Greening Australia’s Nature in Cities program, through the Cooling the Schools pilot funded by Green Adelaide, which is aiming to engage and collaborate with communities to increase canopy cover and reduce urban heat.

Refreshments and lunch will be provided (contact Deb via email with any dietary requirements).

Please dress appropriately for the weather. Gloves and trowels can be supplied but please bring your own if you have them available.

A reasonable level of fitness is required due to undulating terrain and short walks to planting areas spread throughout the park.
